A Keepsake Soundtrack captures the songs that have shaped your life and supports brain engagement now and in the future! Board certified music therapist Amanda Marcum shares tips for creating a personalized playlist.
Music from a person’s teenage years to their mid-20s is a great place to start your playlist. Research shows people are more likely to remember it, even with brain change.
Draw from big and emotional milestones, like the music at your wedding, songs you sang to your children or songs associated with military service.
Songs you played on repeat at any time in your life, such as a favorite workout song or vacation song you listened to again and again.
If spiritual music touches you, religious songs and hymns can be very powerful.
Not every song has to be “happy;” it’s OK to express the full emotional spectrum.
Include a mix of fast and slow songs; think about different tempos.
Aim for at least 20 minutes of music.
